What people misunderstand about creating an estate plan is that they think they have to have a lot of money — that wills and trusts are only for the wealthy. That's really not the case. It's a matter of taking a series of documents and customizing them to the particular client, depending on whether they're an individual, a couple, or a family with minor children, adult children, or grandchildren.
It's not even necessary to be older to think about an estate plan.
